Indian Navy SSC Officer Educational Qualification
Candidates must have completed their studies or be in their final year and have earned a minimum of 60% overall or an equivalent CGPA from a university established by an act of the Central or State Legislature of India, from another educational institution created by an act of Parliament, or from an institution that has been designated as a university or an autonomous university under the UGC Act of 1956.

Indian Navy SSC Officer Tenure
Short Service Commissions will be given to chosen candidates for an initial period of 10 years that can be extended by a maximum of 04 years over the course of two terms (02 years plus 02 years), depending on the candidates’ willingness, performance, and medical eligibility.
Indian Navy SSC Officer Selection Procedure
- The preference of entries and normalised marks earned by candidates in the qualifying degree will be used to select applications for further consideration.
- The Join Indian Navy website contains formulas that will be used to normalise the candidates’ qualifying degree marks.
- The marks earned up to the fifth semester will be taken into consideration for SSB shortlisting for candidates who have finished or are enrolled in their final year of BE/B.Tech. A degree programme that is not in engineering.
- The marks earned during each semester will be taken into consideration for candidates who have earned an MCA, MBA, MA, M.Sc, B.Sc, or a B.Com degree.
- The shortlisting process for candidates who are in their final year will be based on their pre-final year performance.
- Candidates who make the final merit list must send an email to officer@navy.gov.in demonstrating that they have earned a qualifying degree with at least 60% of the required marks.
- Candidates who don’t meet the requirements won’t be allowed to join the Academy.
- No correspondence in this regard will be accepted.
- Candidates who have been shortlisted will be notified via email or SMS if they have been chosen for an SSB interview (provided by candidates in their application form).
- It is advised that candidates wait to change their mobile or email address until the selection process is complete.
